VIDEO DESCRIPTION:

Noble Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai received an honorary Canadian citizenship on Wednesday. In a ceremony in Ottawa, Yousafzai spoke to the crowd on how she will use the honor to promote education for girls and prioritize schooling for refugees. In her speech, she asked Canada to host the upcoming Global Partnership for Education meeting to bring world leaders together to raise funds for education. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau called Malala one of “the newest and possibly bravest citizens of Canada.” Yousafzai is the sixth person to receive the honor, alongside Nelson Mandela, the Dalai Lama, Aung San Suu Kyi, Raoul Wallenberg, and Aga Khan.
